The RCA is a contract between the owner of the motor vehicle, called the insured, and the insurance company. In return for the insurance premium, the insurer undertakes to pay the damage caused to the third party when the insured risk occurs.
For the purposes of drawing up compulsory internal civil liability insurance policies, the subject matter of the insurance is determined, such as the type and cylinder capacity of the motor vehicle, the owner's residence visa, the driving experience and the number of persons allowed to drive the motor vehicle
RCA is the compulsory civil liability motor insurance that indemnifies persons who have suffered as a result of a motor accident, and covers the following:
The RCA insurance contract is issued for a period of 12 months. The only exception is insurance contracts concluded for motor vehicles registered abroad, which do not have a Green Card, in which case the contract may be concluded for a minimum of 15 days and a maximum of 12 months. However, RCA insurance contracts concluded for agricultural or seasonal machinery may have a shorter term of 12 months.

2. Registration certificate of the motor vehicle registered abroad and used on the territory of the Republic of Moldova
3. Driving licence and identity card of the insured and of the persons authorised to drive the insured motor vehicle
4. Document proving the ownership of the person who is to register the motor vehicle
In the event of destruction, damage or deterioration of the motor vehicle, the client (insured) is bound to notify the insurance company with which the insurance contract has been concluded about the accident within 48 hours, otherwise the insurance company may file a claim against you (this means that the insurance company will indemnify the third party, but will have the right to claim from you all expenses incurred). The indemnities are also payable when the injured party does not have a domicile, registered office or residence in Moldova. If the driver of the motor vehicle which caused the accident is a person other than the owner, the insurance company will pay indemnity under the RCA, provided that this person is named in the insurance policy
